Ans: High fever. Fast breathing. Low blood pressure. Cold skin. Decreased urine output, blood in sputum, pleuritic chest pain, altered mental status.

Ans: yes viral infections leads to decreased immunity resulting in super added bacterial infections.

Ans: Yes specially in extremes of ages , and immunocompromised and hospitalized patients.

  • Q: What are symptoms of pneumonia?

Ans: Chest pain when you breathe or cough
Confusion or changes in mental awareness (in adults age 65 and older)
Cough, which may produce phlegm
Fever, sweating and shaking chills
Lower than normal body temperature (in adults older than age 65 and people with weak immune systems)
Nausea, vomiting or diarrhea
Shortness of breath

Ans: Yes 5 yearly polyvalent vaccination agains penumococci ( most common cause of pneumonia) is available with name of PREVENAR 13 or PNEUMOVAX 23. given in immunocompromised or with few medical conditions

Ans: Wash your hands regularly, especially if you are caring for someone who has pneumonia.Get vaccinated.
Stop or don’t start smoking.
Keep your body in good health with exercise and a healthy diet.
If you have any ongoing health problems, take all medications as prescribed.
