Institute of Behavioral Sciences (IBS), is a non-profit organization, established by renowned nuclear scientist and the national hero of the country, Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan. He has laid the foundation stone of “Institute of Behavioral Science” and the ground breaking ceremony was held on 5th September 1998. IBS is a long-term dream of Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan was to provide comprehensive mental healthcare services to less privileged people residing in Karachi and its and its suburbs. The modern concept of mental health focuses on the quality of living, its creativity and productive potential. National and economic considerations demand that a large section of the population afflicted by mental illnesses should be encouraged to play productive role in society rather than be perceived as a burden on the community. The major objectives of Institute of Behavioral Sciences are to be focused on quality and total mental health services, to develop community and family support systems. Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan Center provides a safe, self-empowering environment that supports dignity and respect for the individual, while giving relief and peace of mind to the family with the knowledge that their loved ones are taken care of in the best possible way.
